About Victory Lutheran College: Supporting Learning Through Secure and Reliable Technology

Founded in 1992, Victory Lutheran College (VLC) is a Foundation to Year 12 school located in Wodonga, Victoria, operating within the Wodonga Lutheran Parish. With 130 employees, the College is committed to providing quality education in a supportive learning environment while ensuring its technology supports the evolving needs of students, families, and staff.

As technology became increasingly important to education delivery, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency, VLC sought a long-term technology partner in Virtual IT Group to help execute its vision, strengthen resilience, and support continuous improvement across the organisation.

The Challenge: Managing Cybersecurity, IT Infrastructure and Growth in Education

Like many schools, Victory Lutheran College was managing a broad range of technology priorities. Protecting sensitive student, family, welfare, and staff information was a key focus, while at the same time ensuring technology remained reliable, scalable, and capable of supporting future needs.

The College had invested in modern technologies over time and identified opportunities to further strengthen areas such as IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, business continuity, reporting, and operational efficiency. Leadership also wanted greater visibility into technology risks, asset lifecycles, and future investment requirements to support informed decision-making.

With education sector cyber threats increasing and technology becoming central to better teaching and learning outcomes, VLC wanted to build on its existing foundations and ensure its environment could support the College’s strategic objectives both now and into the future.

The Solution: A Strategic Partnership Focused on Reliability and Cyber Resilience

Victory Lutheran College partnered with Virtual IT Group (VITG) to help deliver a structured technology roadmap aligned to the College’s operational and strategic goals.

VITG implemented a series of infrastructure modernisation initiatives which included network improvements, firewall upgrades, switch replacement programs and communications cabinet remediation. These projects enhanced reliability and performance while being delivered with minimal disruption to staff and students.

Cybersecurity was another key focus area. To support the College’s commitment to protecting sensitive information, VITG introduced Security-as-a-Service capabilities, including continuous monitoring, cyber reporting, after-hours threat notifications, phishing simulations, and ongoing roadmap planning.

VITG also introduced automation and process improvements across student onboarding, staff onboarding, user lifecycle management, and device management. These improvements reduced manual administrative overheads and created greater scalability during busy periods such as the start of the school year.

VITG is also supporting Victory Lutheran College’s business continuity goals through improved backup capabilities and a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) strategy to further strengthen organisational resilience. These initiatives are designed to ensure critical systems and services can be restored quickly in the event of disruption, minimising downtime and operational impact, providing greater confidence in the College’s ability to maintain operations.

The Outcome: Improved Reliability, Stronger Cybersecurity and Strategic Confidence

Today, Victory Lutheran College benefits from a more mature, resilient, and strategically aligned technology environment.

Modernised infrastructure, streamlined operational processes, and increased automation have improved reliability, reduced operational complexity, and enhanced the user experience for staff and students. With greater visibility into technology assets, lifecycle planning, and future requirements, the College is better equipped to make informed decisions support ongoing growth.

“VITG’s managed IT support and security services have strengthened our confidence in the reliability and resilience of our systems while creating operational efficiencies across the College. We now have confidence that our technology can support our staff, students, and future growth.”
– Glenn Wright, Business Manager, Victory Lutheran College

Cybersecurity capability has strengthened through increased monitoring, reporting, awareness initiatives, and proactive risk management. Leadership now has greater confidence that sensitive information is protected and that cybersecurity investments are aligned with organisational priorities.

Perhaps most importantly, the College now has a technology partner that proactively works alongside its team to support continuous improvement, provide strategic guidance, and help turn technology initiatives into measurable outcomes for staff, students, and the broader school community.

“In my 16 years at Victory Lutheran College, this is the first time I have seen our ICT environment moving in a truly strategic direction. VITG’s collaborative approach has been instrumental in helping us build a secure, stable, and well-aligned technology environment.”
