How Plush Used VITG to Move to Azure & Microso ft 365

Plush started out in 2000, opening a specialized sofa showroom in Nunawading under the name of Plush Leather. Following the success of their pilot showroom, Plush Leather opened its flagship showroom in Richmond in 2001. Since then, they have opened over 47 showrooms across Australia and enjoyed success over the last 21 years.

Each Plush sofa is made to order, using the highest quality materials, and every single one is backed by the Plush 10 Year Peace of Mind Warranty®. With a growing network of over 46 showrooms nationwide, Plush is proud to be Australia’s Sofa Specialists.

Plush’s mission is to continue providing the highest quality products and service. Customers are confident when purchasing from Plush, with the expert guidance of the Sofa Specialists, the ‘Love it or your money back guarantee,’ and the 10 Year Peace of Mind Warranty®; customers can purchase their dream sofa with complete peace of mind.

“The management of the project was fantastic, and the technical resources delivered as expected. When required, additional resources were brought in to ensure targets were met. All in all, the team delivered to my expectations, and that is all that I would ever ask.” Matthew Smith, Head of Technology

The Challenge

Historically, business IT services for Plush were delivered as part of shared services provided by their parent company.

A directive from their parent company to allow all brands to operate independently meant this project was required.

“The successful delivery of this project by VITG meant this objective was achieved,” says Smith.

The Solution

VITG created and migrated Plush into their own Azure tenancy, designed and deployed virtual networks, set up firewalls and cybersecurity measures, created and migrated Plush into a new Microsoft Office 365 tenancy, and now manages the day-to-day IT support requirements for Plush, giving the Plush IT team the space to focus on strategic projects.

“Apart from meeting the objective set down by our parent company, this project has already had many other benefits. The main one is that we are now in control of our own destiny when it comes to IT decisions. What systems and process improvements we invest in are now 100% in control of Plush.

We have already seen significant progress in areas such as the automation of key processes. Although these were not directly delivered by VITG, you certainly played a key role by looking after our ‘commodity IT,’ which has given the internal Plush IT team the time to invest in these business improvement initiatives.

To put it shortly, you are looking after ‘lights-on’ activities while we can spend time on business improvement,” says Smith.

The Results

“Overall, it was a positive experience, with the project delivered on time and pretty much within budget. Given it was such a large and complex project with many work streams, I can’t ask for more than that.

I was always able to pick up the phone and talk to the project manager any time of day (or night), and the appropriate level of urgency was always shown. Six months later, we are standing alone as intended, and at the end, that is all the proof I need to say this was a successful delivery,” says Smith.
